Bushfire Aid Concert @ Busselton Foreshore Amphitheatre
1 February 2020 @ 2:00 pm - 10:00 pmFree
Australia is Burning. A fact that I think every single Australian is aware of. The bushfires and the devastation that they have caused have been a topic of discussion in our house for many weeks now with our three young children. We don’t shelter them from these things but rather openly discuss and encourage them to share their thoughts.
For some time now, our eldest (6yrs old) has been begging us to do something to help those who have lost everything. She even offered her bedroom up for someone else who mat have lost theirs and felt guilt for celebrating Christmas when so many others could not.
We too have felt rather helpless and frustrated and the emotional toll has been huge for us all. To be honest, we don’t have a lot to give ourselves in terms of dollars, but we figured what can give is our time. We have built our Not For Profit organisation Foodlosophy here in the South West over the past year and have created many valuable contacts as well as building a community of our own on social media.
So the idea came about to use our nfp and our local connections, to create a fundraiser for the bushfires, where the local community can come together to create hope and positivity in the darkest of times.
We created a post on our facebook page and within 6 hours our humble fundraiser had become a two day event for the entire South West with multiple events and a main live aid inspired concert with both local and national artists joining the line up to entertain and help raise money! And so – Bushfire Aid was born.
Friday 31st January – Saturday 1st February 2020
Friday will be a day for multiple events around the south west. We are asking as many local businesses that would like to participate to put up Bushfire Aid posters, join in the awareness online, raise money and rally together. Many will be involved with either collection buckets on site, donations from their sales for the day, or offering a special event on the day where proceeds will go to the cause.
We will have roaming buskers and volunteers collecting donations around all the town centres and an overall positive and uplifting approach to helping rebuild our Australian Communities.
Saturday will be our main concert and entertainment day. Busselton’s event is so far booked for the Foreshore Amphitheatre and Bunbury will also host a sister event with location TBC. The line up of artists performing on the day is being completed and will be released in the next week or so. There will be tonnes of family fun, food vans and blind auctions just to name a few things.
All monies donated will be sent directly to those on the ground who need it most. Our main goal is that we get as much of what is donated directly to fire affected communities. So, as a committee, we have decided to donate all funds to the Salvation Army Bushfire Appeal through Bendigo Bank. This way 100% of what is donated through Bendigo will be used to rebuild hope in the darkest of times.
We need to rebuild our country from this devastation. Every time a tragedy such as this occurs in our country – it’s us, the people that stand together every single time. Now is the time to stand together again. Our community – while still small, can make a positive change to rebuild hope. We know many in our community have already donated to charities across the country and we are so eternally grateful for your support in any way. While we know we can’t raise millions, we would like to at least try for hundreds. If this event becomes a day where we can all simply come together to support each other and feel a little less helpless together than thats positive too.
There will be no such thing as too many donations to the amazing people on the ground in the fire affected communities. They have given everything to help our country and we as a family would like to at least show our gratitude and support.
THANK YOU FIRIES, VOLUNTEERS ANYONE MAKING A POSITIVE IMPACT FOR THESE COMMUNITIES! You’re Amazing!
We hope you can join us, even if its just to enjoy the entertainment and atmosphere. Thank you all so much for you kindness and generosity.
All our love Dan and Sam Ninness
